Gas Smell
Admiral · AGD4475TQ1 7.0 cu ft Gas Dryer with Moisture Sensor and Wrinkle Guard
A faint gas smell is noticeable when the dryer is operating. A weak igniter (increased resistance from age) takes too long to reach ignition temperature, allowing raw gas to accumulate in the burner tube before igniting. This causes a small gas 'puff' at ignition and a faint gas odor. Test the igniter resistance — a healthy igniter reads 50-400 ohms. If resistance is over 400 ohms, replace the igniter. Also inspect all gas supply line fittings for leaks using a soapy water solution — bubbles indicate a gas leak. WARNING: If you smell a strong gas odor, shut off the gas supply immediately, ventilate the area, and do not operate any electrical switches or flames. Call your gas utility.
