Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and an encrypted password. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
Usage Data: We track page views and error code lookups to improve our content. This data is aggregated and not tied to individual users.
Payment Information: HomeMD Pro subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We never store your credit card details — Stripe handles all payment data securely.
Chat Data: Conversations with Homey AI are saved to your account so you can reference past advice. Chat history is never shared with third parties.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and improve our diagnostic tools and repair guides
- Process payments and manage your HomeMD Pro subscription
- Save your gear list and fix votes across devices
- Send service-related emails (password resets, subscription changes)
- Analyze usage patterns to improve content and user experience
3. Cookies & Tracking
We use essential cookies for authentication (session tokens). We use Google AdSense to display ads, which may set its own cookies for ad personalization. You can manage ad preferences through Google's settings.
4. Third-Party Services
- Stripe — Payment processing for subscriptions
- Google AdSense — Display advertising (free-tier users)
- Azure OpenAI — Powers Homey AI chat (conversations are processed but not used for training)
- Microsoft Azure — Cloud hosting and database
5. Data Retention
Your account data is kept as long as you maintain an account. You can delete your account at any time from your profile settings, which removes all personal data, saved gear, chat history, and votes. Stripe customer records are also deleted when you remove your account.
6. Data Security
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Our database is hosted on Azure SQL with encryption at rest. We follow industry-standard practices to protect your information.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Opt out of ad personalization through Google's ad settings
8. Children's Privacy
HomeMD is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
