How Our Content Is Created
HomeMD repair guides are created through a multi-step process designed for accuracy and usefulness:
Manufacturer Documentation
Error code definitions, diagnostic procedures, and repair steps are sourced from OEM service manuals, technical bulletins, and manufacturer support documentation.
AI-Assisted Drafting
Initial repair guides are drafted using AI trained on appliance repair knowledge, then structured into step-by-step instructions with tools, parts, and estimated costs.
Community Verification
Every fix is ranked by the community through upvotes and downvotes. Fixes that actually work rise to the top; ineffective fixes sink. This crowdsourced quality signal means our top-ranked fixes have real-world validation.
Continuous Improvement
Users can submit new fixes, comment on existing ones, and report inaccuracies. Our content improves over time as more people contribute their repair experiences.
Editorial Standards
- •Accuracy first. All error code definitions are cross-referenced with manufacturer documentation. We never fabricate error codes or invent symptoms.
- •Safety is non-negotiable. Every repair guide includes safety warnings where applicable. We always recommend disconnecting power before working on any equipment, and we clearly indicate when a professional should be called.
- •Transparency about limitations. We clearly disclose that our content is AI-assisted and community-verified. We include disclaimers on every repair page encouraging users to verify information with their owner's manual.
