Home is marked as 'Away' when people are present, or 'Home' when everyone has left. The occupancy detection system is not accurately determining whether people are in the home. Ensure all household members have the Google Home app installed with location permissions set to 'Always.' Confirm phone-based presence is enabled in Google Home app > Thermostat > Settings > Home/Away Assist. The built-in occupancy sensor (Learning Thermostat models) only detects motion directly in front of the thermostat — phone-based presence is more reliable for whole-home detection.
