MECH-WONT-START
Craftsman · Craftsman CMXGWAS021021 3000 PSI 2.3 GPM Gas Pressure Washer
The pressure washer engine (gas) or motor (electric) does not start. For GAS models: (1) Stale fuel — drain and refill with fresh gasoline. (2) Spark plug — replace if fouled or worn. (3) Air filter — clean or replace. (4) Low oil — some have a low-oil shutdown sensor. Fill to the correct level. (5) Choke — set to FULL for cold starts. For ELECTRIC models: (1) GFCI tripped — electric pressure washers must be plugged into a GFCI outlet. If the outlet or the integrated GFCI on the cord trips, reset it. If it trips again immediately, there is a ground fault in the machine. (2) Extension cord — do not use an extension cord unless the owner manual allows it. Use a minimum 12-gauge cord if required. A long, thin extension cord causes voltage drop that prevents the motor from starting. (3) Thermal overload tripped — the motor has a thermal overload protector that trips if the motor overheats. Let it cool for 15-30 minutes, then try again. (4) Outlet voltage — the outlet must provide a dedicated 120V circuit with adequate amperage (typically 15A+). (5) Faulty GFCI plug/cord — the integrated GFCI on the power cord can fail. Replacement cords are available.
