NO HOT WATER
Rheem · Rheem Performance 40 Gal. 4500-Watt 6-Year Tank Electric Water Heater
The electric water heater produces no hot water at all. This basic electric water heater has NO electronic controls, NO display, and NO error codes — it uses simple mechanical thermostats and heating elements. Diagnostic steps: (1) Check the circuit breaker — should be a dedicated 30-amp double-pole breaker. Reset if tripped. (2) Press the red reset button (ECO / Energy Cut Off) on the upper thermostat — access by removing the upper access panel cover and pulling back the insulation. If the ECO has tripped, press the red button to reset. Note: a tripped ECO may indicate a more serious problem (faulty thermostat, grounded element). (3) If the ECO has NOT tripped and the breaker is ON, test both heating elements with a multimeter for continuity (disconnect power first). Elements should read approximately 12-13 ohms for a 4500W/240V element. An open reading (OL / infinite) means a burned-out element. (4) Test both thermostats for proper switching with a multimeter.
