LOW SALT
Pentair · Pentair IntelliChlor IC40 Salt Chlorine Generator
The IntelliChlor is detecting a salt concentration below the minimum operating threshold (approximately 2700 ppm). Chlorine production is reduced or stopped. The salt level LED bar will show a low reading. Test the pool water salt level independently with salt test strips or a digital salt meter to verify the reading. If the independent test confirms low salt, add pool-grade salt (sodium chloride, NaCl) to raise the level to 3200-3400 ppm (the ideal range). If the independent test shows adequate salt but the IntelliChlor reads low, the cell sensor may be drifting due to scaling on the cell plates — clean the cell with muriatic acid solution. Cell age can also cause inaccurate salt readings.
