Nest · Nest Temperature Sensor
The Nest Temperature Sensor reports a temperature significantly different from expected for that room. Placement is the most common cause: direct sunlight, proximity to a heat source (register, baseboard heater, electronics), mounting on an exterior wall, or mounting too high (temperature can be 3-5°F higher at ceiling vs. floor level). Mount on an interior wall at 3-5 feet height, away from direct sunlight, vents, and exterior doors. Allow 30-60 minutes after placement for the sensor to acclimate. Compare with a separate thermometer — if consistently off by more than 2°F after correct placement, try re-pairing or replacing the sensor.
