MECH-WONT-START
Cub Cadet · Cub Cadet 2X 26 IntelliPOWER 243cc Two-Stage Snow Blower
The snow blower engine does not start when the electric start button is pressed or the pull cord is pulled. Cub Cadet two-stage and three-stage snow blowers use 4-cycle OHV engines with IntelliPOWER technology that manages engine speed electronically, but the starting system is conventional. Check in order: (1) ELECTRIC START — ensure the unit is plugged into a grounded 120V outlet with the electric start button or key. If the starter motor does not turn, check the outlet, extension cord (use 12-gauge minimum, outdoor-rated), and the power cord connection. If the starter spins but the engine does not fire, proceed to fuel/spark checks. (2) FUEL — use fresh 87+ octane gasoline. Fuel older than 30 days without stabilizer degrades, especially in cold weather. Drain and refill with fresh fuel. NEVER use E85 or fuel with more than 10% ethanol. (3) CHOKE — set to FULL for cold starts. After the engine fires, gradually move to RUN. (4) SPARK PLUG — remove and inspect. A fouled, cracked, or worn plug prevents ignition. Replace annually. (5) OIL LEVEL — some models have a low-oil sensor that prevents starting. Check with the dipstick on a level surface. (6) FUEL SHUT-OFF VALVE — ensure it is in the ON position. (7) KEY — on key-start models, the key must be inserted and turned to START.
