MECH-SKID-SHOES
Cub Cadet · Cub Cadet 2X 26 IntelliPOWER 243cc Two-Stage Snow Blower
The snow blower scrapes the driveway surface, catches on uneven pavement joints, or the auger housing digs into the ground. Cub Cadet snow blowers have adjustable skid shoes on each side of the auger housing that control ground clearance. If the skid shoes are worn down or set too high, the housing rides directly on the surface. Fixes: (1) ADJUST SKID SHOES — lower the skid shoes to raise the auger housing off the surface. Typical clearance: 1/8" for paved surfaces, higher for gravel. Both sides must be set to the same height. (2) WORN SKID SHOES — the shoes are wear items that grind against concrete/asphalt. When worn flat, they must be replaced. (3) SCRAPER BAR — the scraper bar at the bottom of the auger housing also wears. An excessively worn scraper allows snow to pass under the housing without being picked up. Replace when worn thin. (4) SURFACE TYPE — on gravel driveways, raise the skid shoes significantly to prevent picking up gravel (which can damage the impeller and become a projectile hazard). (5) Reversible skid shoes — some models have reversible skid shoes; flip them before replacing to get more life.
