The upper element ECO (Energy Cut Off) has tripped, or a dry fire condition was detected. The heating element was energized without being fully submerged in water, or water temperature exceeded the high limit. Ensure the tank is completely full of water. Reset the ECO by pressing the red button on the upper thermostat. If the ECO continues to trip, check for a malfunctioning thermostat, shorted element, or T&P valve stuck open causing water loss.
