MECH-WHEEL-RPM
Polaris · Polaris 380 Pressure-Side Pool Cleaner
The wheel RPM is not in the correct range, causing the cleaner to perform poorly: (1) Too fast — the cleaner climbs walls, flips over, or moves erratically. Adjust the wheel RPM screw to slow the wheels. Target is approximately 28-32 RPM on most Polaris models (one revolution per 1.8-2.1 seconds). (2) Too slow — the cleaner barely moves and cleaning is poor. This is usually caused by low water pressure (see MECH-PRESSURE-LOSS) rather than an RPM adjustment issue. Verify pressure is adequate before adjusting RPM. (3) To measure RPM — mark one wheel with tape or marker, count revolutions over 1 minute, or time one revolution. (4) Uneven RPM side-to-side causes the cleaner to travel in circles — check for debris or wear on internal gears.
