Thermostat detected a wiring configuration it cannot support, or wires are connected to the wrong terminals. May appear during initial setup or after a wiring change. Can indicate a high-voltage wire (120/240V) connected to a low-voltage thermostat terminal, which can damage the thermostat. Verify all wiring matches the Nest compatibility checker at nest.com/compatibility. Check that R goes to R, W to W1, Y to Y1, G to G, C to C, and O/B to '*' or O/B.
