MECH-SMEAR
Canon · Canon imageCLASS MF453dw 40 ppm Wireless Duplex Mono Laser All-in-One Printer
Toner is not properly fused to the paper and smears or rubs off when touched. This indicates the fuser is not reaching its required temperature or not applying sufficient pressure. Check the paper type setting in the print driver — if "Thin Paper" is selected but you are using standard or heavy paper, the fuser temperature is too low. Select the correct paper type. If the paper type is correct, the fuser unit may be failing (heating element degraded or pressure roller worn) — see FUSER-ERROR. Other causes: using paper that is too thick or glossy for the printer's specifications, or using damp paper. Some Canon imageCLASS models have a "Special Mode" in the settings menu that can increase fuser temperature for problem media.
