MECH-THERMAL
Briggs & Stratton · Briggs & Stratton 2000 PSI 1.2 GPM Electric Pressure Washer
Hot water is discharging from the thermal relief valve at the bottom of the pump. This happens when the pressure washer engine runs for more than 2-3 minutes without pulling the trigger — the pump continuously recirculates water, which heats up from friction and compression. The thermal relief valve opens at approximately 145°F to release the hot water and prevent pump damage. To avoid this, never let the engine idle for extended periods without squeezing the trigger periodically to flush cool water through the pump. If the thermal valve opens during normal use, the inlet water may be too hot (always use cold water supply) or the valve is faulty.
