The motor speed sensor (tachometer/Hall sensor) is not sending signals to the control board. The control board cannot determine motor speed, which is needed for proper wash, rinse, and spin operations. On direct-drive washers, the speed sensor is usually on the motor stator (back of the outer tub). Check the sensor connection and wiring. Test the sensor — on some models it should generate an AC voltage when the motor is spun by hand. On top-load models with a clutch/transmission, the sensor may be on the motor assembly. Replace the motor speed sensor if defective.
