HDCP FAIL
Sony · Sony VPL-XW5000ES Native 4K SXRD Laser Home Theater Projector
The projected image from a source device shows a black screen, a purple or green screen, shows only a static image, or displays an HDCP error message instead of the expected video content. Copy-protected content from streaming apps, Blu-ray players, and cable or satellite boxes requires a successful HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) authentication handshake between the source device and the projector via the HDMI cable. Unplug and firmly reconnect the HDMI cable at both ends. Power cycle both the source device and the projector. Try a different HDMI cable — HDCP negotiation is sensitive to cable quality. If using an HDMI splitter, switch, or AV receiver between the source and projector, ensure each intermediary device supports the required HDCP version (HDCP 2.3 for 4K HDR content). Test by connecting the source device directly to the projector with a short cable to rule out cable and intermediary issues. Update firmware on both devices.
