The band clamp (belly band) that secures the filter lid to the tank body is cracked, stretched, corroded, missing the bolt/nut hardware, or will not tighten properly — if the clamp cannot secure the lid under system pressure, water will leak from the lid joint and system pressure will be reduced; a badly worn or damaged clamp can allow the lid to blow off under pressure, which can cause serious injury; do NOT operate the filter system with a loose or damaged band clamp; replace the entire band clamp assembly including the bolt, nut, and thrust washer; tighten to the specification in the manual — do not over-tighten
