MECH-PARALLEL-FAIL
Champion · Champion 100519 6250W Open Frame Inverter Generator with Electric Start
Two Champion inverter generators connected with a parallel kit do not produce combined output, or one or both generators trip their overload protection when paralleled. Champion offers parallel kits (sold separately) that allow two compatible inverter generators to be connected together for double the output. Causes: (1) Incompatible models — not all Champion inverter generators can be paralleled. Only models specifically designed for parallel operation (with a parallel port) can be connected. Both generators should ideally be the same model. (2) Parallel cable issue — the parallel cable may be defective, have loose connections, or the connector pins may be bent or corroded. Inspect both ends of the parallel cable and both generator parallel ports. (3) Frequency/phase mismatch — both generators must be at the same frequency and in phase. Start both generators separately and let them stabilize for 1-2 minutes at idle before connecting the parallel cable. (4) One generator loaded before connection — connect the parallel cable with no load, then connect loads after both generators are linked. (5) Unequal loading — if the generators are different sizes or one is in Economy Mode and the other is not, they may not share load equally. Use the same Economy Mode setting on both. (6) Faulty parallel port — the internal wiring or relay associated with the parallel connection port may have failed.
