MECH-IMPELLER
Ariens · Compact 24 208cc 24 in 2-Stage Gas Snow Blower with 208cc Engine
The impeller (the fan behind the auger housing that throws snow up the chute) is clogged with packed snow/ice or has damaged paddles. Wet, heavy snow is most likely to clog the impeller and chute. Shut off the engine and use a clearing tool (never hands) to remove packed snow. Apply a non-stick spray to the inside of the chute and impeller housing before use to reduce clogging. If the impeller paddles are bent or cracked, the impeller must be replaced. The impeller bearing can also seize, causing a grinding noise.
